NBA 2k21: How To Grind VC Effectively

In NBA 2k21, VC (short for virtual currency), allows players to buy My Career player stat upgrades, dribble moves, dunks and layup moves, skill boosts, My Player rituals, signature moves, The Neighborhood emotes and other various in-game items.

That said, it’s only natural for players to find the best ways to grind for VC.

In this post, I’ll show you all the possible ways to earn VC. And by the end of this post, you’ll know which methods you should be doing if you plan to get em fast.

Ways to Earn VC

NBA 2k21 offers quite a lot of game modes designed for casual and competitive gamers. You can earn VC depending on the game mode of your preference.

Here are all the ways to earn VC in the game:

Playing the My Career Game Mode

Nba 2k21 my career game mode

My Career is by far, the most reliable way to grind for VC.  It’s also the most popular game mode NBA 2k has to offer.

In this mode, you will create your own player, choose your own build, size and position and play through your own career.

You will earn VC with each game you play. And the amount of VC you can earn will depend on how well you play that single game.

Naturally, you want to get as many points, rebounds and assist for as much as you can. But things like Teammate grade and game difficulty can also affect your VC reward. Playing the Hall of Fame difficulty will give you 1.6 times more VC than normal.

Moreover, once your player gets drafted in the NBA regular seasons, you will have a “VC salary” for every game you play. Since you’re still a rookie, you’ll get about 400 VC per game. And that’s not counting the stats you’ll put in once you play that single game.

I currently have a player that’s doing pretty well. And in total, I could earn anywhere from 1, 400 to 2, 000 VC per game.

And if you played for more than one season, you will have a chance to renegotiate your salary. This is, of course, will depend on your performance for the whole season. So if you win the MVP award, your salary per game will skyrocket through the roof.

Playing Games in The Neighborhood

Watching games in the neighborhood

Technically, playing in The Neighborhood is still part of the My Career game mode. The only difference is you’ll be playing with other real people instead of the CPU. It’s like the PvP aspect of the game.

In this mode, the VC you’ll earn will largely depend on your stat performance and teammate grade. You will not have the VC salary unlike playing in the NBA game against the CPU. But the games are also shorter compared to the normal NBA game.

This might also be more enjoyable if you love competing with other players.

Endorsement Contracts

Nba 2k21 endorsement contract negotiation

During the course of your My Career gameplay, you’ll earn a couple of fans depending on how good you play each and every game.

And once you earn enough fans, brands like Nike, Jordan, Gatorade, etc will want to sign endorsement deals with you. The more fans you have, the more brands will sign a contract with you. And the more you can negotiate the amount of VC you’ll receive with each event.

The payout for these endorsement contracts is really good, especially once you’ve about 500k fans.

These endorsement deals happen on the fly and you don’t even have to do anything else aside from negotiating your contracts. You can collect the VC you’ve earned by going to The Neighborhood. It’s the building right next to the Gatorade Gym.

Anyway, the number of fans you’ll earn is cumulative. So it doesn’t matter if you played badly in the first couple of games. You’ll eventually get some deals the longer you play.

Play Different Casual Play modes

For casual players, there are a couple of game modes you can choose if you select “Play Now” in the main menu.

Here are the quick game modes and the respective VC you can earn:

VC Per
Game
Quick Play100 VC
WNBA100 VC
Black Top200 VC

If you’re interested in the fastest way to earn VC, check out the VC Glitch post. It utilizes the Black Top game mode to get up to 24, 000 VC per hour.

Playing MyLeague

My league game mode

The MyLeague game mode allows you to manage a specific team as a GM and the coach. It also allows you to play each game but there are other game modes out there if that’s what you’re into.

Anyway, if you select “Simulate with Simcast Live”, you’ll get 150 VC per game. It’s a completely hands-off way to earn VC and but honestly, this isn’t the route to go if you really want to get VC.

I suggest playing MyLeauge ONLY if you like this game mode rather than trying to earn easy VC.

Daily Bonuses

Daily bonus in the neighborhood

Okay, so we’ve established that we can earn VC from playing various game modes in NBA 2k21. But did you know that you can also get some daily bonuses from these game modes?

Here are some options that you might want to check daily:

  • The Neighborhood Daily Bonus – When playing MyCareer, you can get a daily bonus by completing a certain task either by playing an NBA game (versus a CPU), Playground, Pro-AM and Cages.

Let me give you an example: As of the day I was writing this post, it asks me to get 5 blocks and 5 steals and I’ll be rewarded with 2, 000 VC. Now if you’re playing the MyCareer anyway, why not try to achieve these requirements so you’d get the extra bonus?

You can see the requirements on The Neighborhood panel.

  • Daily Spins – While in the Neighborhood, go to Jeff’s 2K Arcade and get your daily spin. You get a chance to win various rewards here including VCs.

You can spin the roulette every 12 hours.

And if you reach the Elite Rep rank, you can also spin the exclusive roulette for Elites only.

  • My Team Daily Logins – Even if you don’t particularly play this game mode, you still want to check on this daily as this is the easiest VC that you’ll ever get. Simply go the MyTeam game mode from the main menu and collect 100 VC every day.

Answering Surveys in the 2kTV

Answering survey to earn vc in 2ktv

In the main menu, there is an option to watch 2kTV for some updates and information about 2k21. Occasionally, there will be some surveys that you can answer by pressing a button in your controller. You will get 100 VC just by answering those.

However, I find that video streaming in-game is painstakingly slow. To be honest, this method just isn’t worth it if your goal is to earn VC.

But if you’re interested in watching the actual 2kTV show, just watch it on Youtube and save yourself from the slow video streaming in-game.

Purchase from the VC store

And of course, the NBA 2k series is known for its microtransaction so if you have some extra cash, you can just buy VC using real-world money if you want to avoid grinding for VCs.

These are available at different prices depending on your region. And you will get better discounts when buying bigger larger VC packs.

You can also wait until 2k decides to have a huge sale.

Conclusion

NBA 2k21 offers quite a lot of opportunities to earn VC but some of them may not be as effective as the rest if your goal is to earn VC fast. Playing and enjoying the MyCareer game mode is your best bet to reliably grind for VC.
