In this post, we analyzed all characters to find the best team comp for Yoimiya.
As always, we tried to find the best synergy that will fit every type of player, from F2P to whales.
How We Choose the Characters for Yoimiya’s Team Comp:

Yoimiya is a ranged character with a breakneck attack speed. Her elemental skill allows her to deal Pyro damage consistently.
Due to these mechanics, she excels in single targets and she can take them out pretty quickly.
However, being a ranged single target character, this also serves as her weakness. She can’t do splash damage aside from her elemental burst.
But this is where a good team comp comes into the picture.
For these reasons, we formulated a couple of team comp that will best synergize Yoimiya’s style of play.
Here are the factors we took into consideration when recommending Yoimiya’s team comp:
- Compensate Yoimiya’s lack of crowd controlling skills.
- Enhance Yoimiya’s Pyro damage output.
- Increase Yoimiya’s ability to proc elemental reactions consistently.
- Activate at least one elemental resonance without affecting synergy.
- Enhance survivability to take on the hardest challenges in the game.
Yoimiya’s Best Team Comp:
For Yoimiya’s best team comp, we analyzed and compared all characters at their max constellation.
In other words, this team comp is for our whale friends out there who could max all constellations of all characters.
Here’s the team comp we came up with:
Character | Role | Artifact Set | Preferred Constellation Level |
---|---|---|---|
![]() Yoimiya | Main DPS | 4-piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence | C6 |
![]() Venti | Burst DPS Crowd Control | 4-piece Viridescent Venerer | C6 |
![]() Ganyu | Burst DPS Enabler | 4-piece Blizzard Strayer | C4 |
![]() Bennett | Heal Support Buff Support | 4-piece Noblesse Oblige | C6 |
This team comp utilizes the Melt elemental reaction. Damage-wise, this elemental reaction is simply the best for Pyro characters.
But due to how Yoimiya’s playstyle, there are not many Cryo characters that can keep up with her attack speed.
This is where Ganyu comes into play. She plays as the enabler and the sub-DPS for this team.
Typically, having Ganyu and Yoimiya means having two main DPS on two separate teams when taking on the Spiral Abyss.
But if you’re a whale, this is no biggie. You probably have other C6 5-star characters in your character pool. By the way, I’m not jealous at all, not all…
Her elemental burst can apply constant Cryo damage at almost the same rate as Yoimiya’s attack speed.
This trait makes her the perfect tandem for Yoimiya’s flurry of Pyro damages.
Plus, Ganyu’s 2nd constellation will give her two charges of elemental skill, which will allow her to regenerate more energy for her elemental burst.
And her 4th constellation will amplify the damage taken by the opponents by up to 25%.
On the other hand, Venti will provide crowd control while reducing the enemy’s elemental resistance through the Viridescent Venerer set.
His 6th constellation will also reduce the elemental resistance further by 20% when elemental absorption occurs.
He can also provide additional energy regeneration to his teammates through his Windrider passive talent.
Lastly, Bennett serves as the attack booster and healer for the team.
He also activates the Fervent Flames elemental reaction, which will give a 25% attack bonus for the team.
Yoimiya’s High-End Team Comp:
For Yoimiya’s high-end team comp, we limited ourselves to selecting 5-star characters with no constellations. But we also analyzed 4-star characters at their max constellation.
That said, here’s the best high-end team comp we came up with:
Character | Role | Artifact Set | Preferred Constellation Level |
---|---|---|---|
![]() Yoimiya | Main DPS | 4-piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence | Any |
![]() Venti | Burst DPS Crowd Control | 4-piece Viridescent Venerer | C6 |
![]() Mona | Burst DPS Enabler | 4-piece Emblem of Severed Fate | C5 |
![]() Bennett | Heal Support Buff Support | 4-piece Noblesse Oblige | C6 |
This lineup utilizes the Vaporize and Reversed-Vaporized elemental reaction with Yoimiya as the main DPS.
As mentioned earlier, Yoimiya’s most glaring weakness is her lack of sustainable crowd control.
Venti can provide that and more.
He also provides elemental resistance debuff to enemies, boosting Yoimiya’s Pyro damage.
Plus, his Windrider passive talent provides energy for the party, allowing Yoimiya to charge her elemental burst even with the Shimenawa’s Reminiscence artifact effect.
Alternatively, you can use Kazuha, which will provide a much greater boost in elemental damage but with lesser crowd-control effectiveness.
On the other hand, Mona enables the Vaporize elemental reaction while providing a massive boost of damage from her elemental burst.
As an enabler, Xingqiu might be a better pick if you want to trigger Vaporize more consistently.
However, Mona’s elemental burst can more than make up for it, especially when you’re up against enemies with high HP like the ones you will find in the Spriral Abyss.
Quick Tip: Whenever you’re ready to unleash Mona’s elemental burst, make sure to apply Pyro to your enemies first so you can maximize her burst’s uptime.
Lastly, the ever-reliable Bennett grants a huge attack boost while serving as a great healer for the team.
And since Yoimiya is a Pyro character, Bennett’s 6th constellation can further increase her Pyro damage by 15%.
But if you’re planning to use Bennett to a different character with a different element in the future, I would suggest leaving him at C5.
Bennett also activates the Fervent Flame elemental resonance for the party, granting an additional 25% boost in attack.
Yoimiya’s Mid-Tier Team Comp:
We limit ourselves to selecting only 4-star characters as part of Yoimiya’s party for this team comp.
Here’s the lineup we came up with:
Character | Role | Artifact Set | Preferred Constellation Level |
---|---|---|---|
![]() Yoimiya | Main DPS | 4-piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence | Any |
![]() Sucrose | Burst DPS Crowd Control | 4-piece Viridescent Venerer | C6 |
![]() Xingqiu | Burst DPS Enabler | 4-piece Emblem of Severed Fate | C6 |
![]() Bennett | Heal Support Buff Support | 4-piece Noblesse Oblige | C6 |
This team comp also utilizes the Vaporize and Reversed-Vaporize elemental reaction.
Sucrose provides crowd control and rips the elemental resistance of enemies (through the 4-piece Virisdescent Venerer) to enhance Yoimiya’s damage.
She also increases the damage of the Vaporize and Reversed-Vaporize reaction through the Elemental Mastery bonus from her passive skills.
But this team comp will work better if you can replace Sucrose with Venti. As you know, Venti’s elemental burst is much better at crowd control which Yoimiya needs more of.
Anyway, the most impactful character in this team comp is Xingqiu.
Although his elemental skill will lose some of its effectiveness due to Yoimiya being a ranged character, his elemental burst will allow you to trigger Vaporize consistently.
Equip Xinqiu with the Sacrificial sword and give him at least 170% energy recharge. This build will allow you to increase the uptime of his elemental burst to pretty much all the time.
Honestly, there is no better enabler for Yoimiya than this pretty boy from Liyue.
And of course, Bennett still provides the 25% passive attack through the elemental resonance, plus his heal and buffs through his elemental burst.
Yoimiya’s F2P-Friendly Team Comp:
This team comp focuses on the Free characters you can get early in the game.
If you’ve been playing for a while now, we don’t recommend going with this team.
However, if you just started and happen to get Yoimiya with your rolls, you can start with this team until you get more characters that synergize better with Yoimiya.
Character | Role | Artifact Set | Preferred Constellation Level |
---|---|---|---|
![]() Yoimiya | Main DPS | 4-piece Lavawalker | Any |
![]() Anemo Traveler | Burst DPS | 4-piece Viridescent Venerer | Any |
![]() Xiangling | Burst DPS | 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames | Any |
![]() Barbara | Heal Support | 4-piece Noblesse Obliged | Any |
This team comp does not utilize any elemental reaction and instead focuses on enhancing Yoimiya’s Pyro damage.
The Anemo Traveler plays a significant role in this. Not only does he shreds the enemy’s Pyro resistance through the Venerer set, having him/her at C6 will further reduce elemental resistance by 20%.
Barbara’s sole role is to provide healing for the party. And although Barbara can still potentially apply Hydro elements to opponents, Yoimiya can’t take full advantage of the hydro application from her elemental skill.
This inefficiency is mainly due to Yoimiya being a ranged character.
Xiangling, on the other hand, can provide constant Pyro to enemies through her elemental skill and burst so you can take full advantage of the Lavawalker set.
She also enables the Pyro elemental resonance, which will give a +25% bonus attack for the team.
Yoimiya’s Damage Showcase Team Comp:
This team comp focuses only on showcasing Yoimiya’s damage against boss or mini-bosses.
Although the team we came up with on this segment is not bad at all, it doesn’t consider any other variables such as burst uptime, survivability, etc.
Here’s the best damage showcase team you can use:
Character | Role | Artifact Set | Preferred Constellation Level |
---|---|---|---|
![]() Yoimiya | Main DPS | 4-piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence | Any |
![]() Kazuha | Buff Support | 4-piece Viridescent Venerer | C2 |
![]() Ganyu | Buff Support Enabler | 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith | C4 |
![]() Bennett | Buff Support | 4-piece Noblesse Oblige | C6 |
Kazuha’s role is to increase Yoimiya’s damage through his passive talents. He also shreds the enemy’s elemental resistance through the Viridescent Venerer set.
Ganyu is the enabler of the Melt reaction, which is the strongest reaction you can proc from a Pyro character.
But if you don’t have her in your team, you can make do with Xingqiu.
Unfortunately, no other Cryo characters can provide a continuous Cryo application that is fast enough to keep up with Yoimiya’s attack speed.
Bennett boosts Yoimiya’s attack through his elemental burst and the set effect of the 4-piece Noblesse Oblige.
When doing a damage showcase, we suggest doing it with this sequence:
- Apply Pyro through Bennett’s elemental skill.
- Use Kazuha’s elemental skill to boost Yoimiya’s Pyro damage.
- Unleash Ganyu’s elemental burst to apply continuous Cryo on your opponent.
- Use Yoimiya’s elemental skill and fire away.
Honorable Mentions:
There is still a lot of other team lineup and character combinations that will work well with Yoimiya.
Let me share a few of them here:
Alternative team #1:
Character | Role | Artifact Set | Preferred Constellation Level |
---|---|---|---|
![]() Yoimiya | Main DPS | 4-piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence | Any |
![]() Electro Traveler | Enabler | 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith | C6 |
![]() Beidou | Burst DPS Enabler | 2-piece Thundering Fury 2-piece Noblesse Oblige | C6 |
![]() Bennett | Heal Support Buff Support | 4-piece Noblesse Oblige | C6 |
This team comp utilizes Overload elemental reaction. And this is probably the lineup I enjoy the most.
With The Electro Traveler and Beidou on the team, you unlock the High Voltage elemental resonance. This resonance will allow you to charge Beidou’s elemental burst pretty quickly.
While you do not have Anemo characters that can group enemies up in this team, the chain lightning effect from Beidou’s burst somehow addresses this issue.
On top of that, The Traveler gives you a little bit of attack boost through the Millelith.
Additionally, The Electro Traveler serves as a super battery for Beidou, significantly increasing her elemental burst uptime.
The combination of The Electro Traveler, Beidou and Yoimiya allows you to proc Overload pretty much all the time.
And let’s not forget Bennett, who will activate the Fervent Flame resonance, allowing you to get two elemental resonances with this team comp.
The only downside of this team is the knockback effect of the Overload elemental reaction.
Yoimiya is a ranged character, so this shouldn’t be too much of an issue. But you might lose some of your DPS if you are not controlling the distance well.
The best way to address this is to remain close to your opponent when attacking with Yoimiya. You have to polish your dodging abilities with this though.
Alternative team #2:
Character | Role | Artifact Set | Preferred Constellation Level |
---|---|---|---|
![]() Yoimiya | Main DPS | 4-piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence | Any |
![]() Beidou | Burst DPS Enabler | 2-piece Thundering Fury 2-piece Noblesse Oblige | C6 |
![]() Xingqiu | Burst DPS Enabler | 4-piece Emblem of Severed Fate | C6 |
![]() Bennett | Heal Support Buff Support | 4-piece Noblesse Oblige | C6 |
This team comp allows you to trigger a three-way Overload, Vaporize and Electro-charged elemental reaction.
As you know, Electro-charged is unique as it allows both the Electro and Hydro elemental counters to remain on the target even after the reaction has been triggered.
This reaction allows Yoimiya to trigger Pyro-related (Overload and Vaporize ) elemental reaction, making the three-way elemental reaction possible.
Also, Beidou’s elemental burst will somewhat compensate for the lack of excellent crowd-control skills that Anemo characters provide.
With both Beidou and Xingiu’s elemental burst, the DPS potential of this team comp can match any other team we mentioned in this post.
Unfortunately, this Yoimiya team comp relies on the elemental burst of her support characters.
Therefore, I would suggest increasing both Xingqiu and Beidou’s energy recharge to increase their elemental burst uptime.
Alternative team #3:
Character | Role | Artifact Set | Preferred Constellation Level |
---|---|---|---|
![]() Yoimiya | Main DPS | 4-piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence | Any |
![]() Albedo | Shield Support Buff Support | 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith | Any |
![]() Zhongli | Burst DPS Shield Support | 2-piece Archaic Petra 2-piece Noblesse Oblige | Any |
![]() Bennett | Heal Support Buff Support | 4-piece Noblesse Oblige | C6 |
Out of all the character lineup presented in this guide, this team comp has the highest survivability.
It also does not rely on elemental reactions to enhance Yoimiya’s damage.
Instead, it takes advantage of the double resonance from Pyro and Geo. Fervent Flames (Pyro resonance) gives an additional 25% attack bonus.
On the other hand, Enduring Rock (Geo resonance) gives an additional 15% damage bonus plus a 15% boost in shield strength.
Albedo provides a constant attack bonus with the Millelith set while also providing additional damage even if he is not active on the field.
On top of the strong shield, Zhongli also provides the only crowd control skill for your team.
But it’s not that bad though. And I bet you’d be amazed how fast Zhongli can charge his elemental burst with this lineup.
Conclusion:
When trying to develop the best Yoimiya team comp, we suggest picking characters that can enable the Vaporize or Overload elemental reaction.
And while we did our analysis to provide you with what we think is the most viable team for Yoimiya, the most important thing is your joy in playing the game.
If you feel like using your Waifu or Husbando over any team we suggested here, go ahead and do so.
What’s your Yoimiya team lineup? Let us know in the comments!
The person who wrote this clearly doesn’t play Genshin. The “preferred constellation level” is laughable, they obviously don’t understand Genshin’s gacha system. Asking for a C6 5-Star unit in any scenario is absolutely overkill. It’s almost impossible to achieve without dumping thousands of dollars and is never necessary. In addition, the artifact sets recommended are such poor choices considering the team comps this article suggests. Ganyu needs a freeze comp to properly run Blizzard Strayer, and the recommended “best comp” listed here doesn’t even include a hydro unit or a secondary cryo unit for the crit buff. Almost no unit should run 4-piece Lavawalker either. Crimson Witch is just the overall better pyro set. I just don’t want some poor player looking for a guide to find this and dump resources into the wrong builds.
TLDR; don’t talk if you don’t know.
For someone who calls herself an “actual Genshin Player”, you seem to misunderstand a lot of things. I’ve been playing this game (and spent a lot of money playing this game) since its launch so I’m pretty sure I know what I’m talking about.
Well as you said in the last line of your comment “TLDR” so you probably didn’t understand half of the recommendations listed here. Unfortunately, this reply will be a bit long too since you opened quite a lot of things to discuss.
Let me address them for you one by one:
1st: “The “preferred constellation level” is laughable”
Preferred Constellation Level means it’s preferred not required. Except for the Best Team Comp category, you don’t actually need to get max constellations for any other tier in the team comp list
The Best Team Comp category here is meant for whales. If you read even the first line of that heading, you’d understand that all characters were analyzed at their max constellation for that category, it’s a no-limit type of team because it is meant to be the best of the best. You can’t call it the best team if you compromise something just because it is unattainable to some.
And I’m sorry but I cannot change the Best Team Comp recommendation here just because it didn’t fit your budget. There’s a reason other team comps were recommended in this article.
2nd: “Asking for a C6 5-Star unit in any scenario is absolutely overkill”
C6 Unit on a 5-star is easily attainable by whales. And again, if you’re not a whale, why build that team? The best team comp category is meant to be the best team for Yoimiya, not the best team for your budget.
Again, there’s a reason why there are other teams recommended in this article.
3rd: “Ganyu needs a freeze comp to properly run Blizzard Strayer”
A 4-piece Blizzard Strayer set will STILL give Ganyu 20% boost in Crit Rate as long as the Cryo element is applied. This is good since you’re only be using Ganyu as your Burst DPS and her elemental burst will continuously apply the Cryo element to enemies. This is an article for a Yoimiya’s Team Comp, not a Ganyu Team comp so why would I optimize the team for Ganyu?
And just because you can’t get the other 20% critical rate from Frozen enemies, doesn’t make it a lesser option. A 20% boost in Crit Rate is STILL better than an 18% Attack boost that you’d get from a 2-piece Gladiator or Shimenawa’s Reminiscence.
4th: “the recommended “best comp” listed here doesn’t even include a hydro”
That’s because the best team comp is not a hydro team if you can get max constellations for every character. I sound like a broken record here but the best team comp category is meant as the true best team comp if you have all the money in the world.
This team comp article caters to all budgets from Whales to F2P players. And in case you didn’t notice, at least 3 other team comps recommended here are based on Hydro reaction. From what I can tell, you’re probably better off looking at the High-End or Mid-Tier team comp. No need to force yourself in getting the Best of the Best team if your budget doesn’t allow it.
5th: “Almost no unit should run 4-piece Lavawalker either. Crimson Witch is just the overall better pyro set.”
I would agree with you most of the time. Except that Yoimiya isn’t one of those characters and the team comp you looking at is the F2P team comp made of Yoimiya + Anemo Traveler + Xiangling + Barbara.
You can’t trigger the Vaporize reaction reliably with that team, which is why it is recommended that you use it as a temporary team only if you’re just starting out.
And if you simply read the 3rd line of the sentence under that heading then you’d know that Yoimiya, being a ranged character would make it very difficult to Vaporize with Barbara. Since you’d need to actually be near your target just to apply the Hydro element with Barbara’s elemental skill, Yoimiya, being a ranged character, is working against her here.
A better alternative to this is to abandon triggering the Vaporize reaction and capitalize on the added damage of Lavawalker plus Xiangling’s elemental skill. Plus, you have an option to re-apply the Pyro element through the Anemo skills of the traveler. And let’s not forget that Yoimiya’s elemental skill allows her to continuously deal Pyro damage, which is the most important thing.
Without an elemental reaction and for a character with Yoimiya’s skill set, there is NO WAY the Crimson Witch set will outperform Lavawalker.
So in this scenario, yes Lavawalker is way better than the 4-piece Crimson Witch Flames. I would understand if you instead suggested 2-piece Crimson and 2-piece Gladiator for this one. But even then Lavawalker will still deal higher damage as long as it’s affected by Xiangling’s Pyro or even just Yoimiya’s continuous Pyro application through her elemental skill. You can go ahead and try it yourself.
If there is anything else you want to discuss, feel free to reply to this comment.
I like the way you confirmed all these! Worth considering.
I’m glad it helped! Thank you for taking the time to leave your thoughts.
Thanks for the in depth article! This was exactly what I needed as a player who is just starting out and got a lucky Yoimiya straight away. One of the only other pulls I have is Sucrose, so for now I’ll basically be running the F2P team with sucrose instead of traveler.
I’ll have to try to gun for Bennet some how if the opportunity arises and keep an eye out for some of the other enablers you recommended.
Glad it helped!
And it’s awesome you manage you get both Yoimiya and Sucrose! Sucrose will give better crowd control overall than the Anemo Traveler.
The only downside with Sucrose is the long cooldown time of her elemental skill. But if you manage to get the Sacrificial Fragment on your future pulls, it should solve that issue.
