The Ultimate Guide to Increase Your Magic Attack in Ragnarok Mobile

Typical to any game in this genre, the most common way to strengthen your character is to get better equips. But in Ragnarok Mobile, increasing your magic attack is more than just acquiring good equips.

There are plenty of methods to increase it. Some are easier than the rest but knowing these methods will help you make an informed decision whether to buy a new gear that may not increase your damage as much if you do the other methods.

This post is an ultimate guide that lists all the known ways…

Increase your Intelligence Stat

Each point you add in your intelligence stat adds +2 magic attack and +1 m def and at a certain point, it will also add an additional 1 SP regen.

Furthermore, every time you reach a “breakpoint”, it will add +3 magic attack and +2 mdef instead. I couldn’t quite figure out the pattern but it usually occurs every 5 int stats.

For the Warlock and Sorcerer class, it’s a no-brainer to max out the INT stat. And for Warlocks specifically, you want to increase Int along with your Dex stat to reduce your variable cast time.

TIP

Unlocking the Multijob tree will also give permanent bonus stats. For magic attack specifically, here are the multiclass stats that you can get:

  • The Shura multiclass gives a total of +10 INT. (4 from Champion and 6 Shura)
  • The Warlock multiclass also gives a total of +10 INT (4 from High Wizard and 6 on Warlock)

Get Better Equipment

As with any game in this genre, equipment plays a huge part in increasing your magic attack. But there are things you can do on top of just acquiring the actual weapon or armor. So when I say get better equips, I meant that you should also upgrade, enchant, enhance and refine your current equips.

I want to focus this post on the ways to increase magic attack and magic damage alone so I won’t be listing the best equipment here.

Refine Your Weapons, Accessories and Armors

Refine gears by talking with hollgrenenn.

You can refine your equips by going to Hollergrenn in Prontera and have him try refining your equips. It requires Oridecons for weapons and accessories while armors need eluniums.

A successful refinement of your weapons and accessories will add an additional refined magic attack while armors, garments, headgears or shoes will add damage reduction depending on the level of refinement.

The actual refined magic attack you can get isn’t that big even at a very high refinement level. But do remember that refined magic attacks give a higher potency in damage than just a normal magic attack.

You can safely refine any equip up to +4 but beyond that, any attempts will have a chance to break your equipment or lose some of its refinement. The higher you go, the higher the chance of it breaking.  It may not be worth refining some of your equips to a higher tier due to the high chance of it breaking your weapon, accessory or armor.

You can, however, choose the option of “safe refine” up to +10 but it will require additional spare of the same item depending on the current refinement level.

But…

The real benefit of trying to get equips with higher refinement is when you consider the Tier Upgrades and Enchantment an equip can give you. Some upgrades will require a specific refinement level before you can actually reap the benefits. I’ll discuss this more below.

Upgrade the Tier Level of your Equipment

Equipment upgrade sample on eye of dullahan.

Almost all equip in Ragnarok Mobile can be upgraded with the exception of synthesized weapons as of the 5.0 patch. Upgrading an item gives you additional stat, magic attack or various special effects. Some of which can give you a really huge boost in damage.

For example, upgrading an Eye of Dullahan accessory to tier IV will give you an additional 1% of magic attacks for every refine it has if it is refined to +10. Once you reach that prerequisite, it will give you a staggering 10% additional magic attack and each upgrade tier level will give you some impressive boost in magic attack and INT stat.

How good is that 10% and additional tier upgrade? Let me give you an idea:

I switched my Tier VI +10 Eye of Dullahan to the same item without any upgrade or refine. And I lost about 700+ magic attacks as a result.

Upgrading any equipment will require some items like boss materials or some other monster drops. Some really good items will even require a copy of the same equipment.

Let’s take the Eye of Dullhan again as an example. Upgrading it to Tier 1 will require the following:

  • 1x Eye of Dullahan
  • 2x Crystal Mirrors
  • 7x Glow Metals
  • 70x Armor Shards
  • 500x Cyfars
  • 50, 000 Zennies.

Upgrading good items might cost you an enormous amount of Zennies but I assure you it would be worth it.

Enchant your Gears

Gear enchantment npc in geffen.

There are a few types of enchantment and you need to unlock them via a quest. Particularly, you want the advanced enchantment quest. This type of enchantment will allow you to get the best possible stat bonuses for your gears.

To enchant your gears, talk to the “Cat Friend” NPC located near the right side of the top portal in Geffen. You will need 4 Mora coins each enchantment tries.

Each try will give a random stat to your gear. And it is pretty easy to get a magic attack bonus.

What’s even better are the 4th enchantments. Stats like magic attack, critical resist, physical attack are pretty normal. But if you happen to get a 4th enchant bonus, it will give you an insanely good bonus.

The best enchantment you can get will vary depending on the gear. Particularly on shoes and garments, the best one you can get is the Arcane 4 enchantment. This will give you 8% additional magic damage.

But even if you can’t get 4th enchantments, it is a good idea to at least get the magic attack “normal” enchantments on all of your gears.

The maximum you can get for weapons, accessories, shoes, garment and armor is a +40 magic attack.  And you can an even bigger cap (+60 magic attack max) for headgears, mouth gears, eye gears, tails and back gears.

You can get up to 500 magic attacks just by getting all max enchants on every equips. But since the stats are totally random, it may be a little hard to obtain. I’d say that around 30+ magic attack enchant would be good enough. And that is still around 300+ magic attack.

Enhance your Weapon and Accessories

How to enhance equips in ragnarok mobile.

Enhancing your weapon and accessories doesn’t have any risk like enchantment or refining but it also gives the least magic attack bonus.

To enhance your gears, simply go to your inventory menu and then switch the enhancement tab as shown in the image above.

You can enhance your gears from level 1 up to your current max level. Each enhancement will cost a couple of Zennies and the cost will go up as the level goes up. At level 120 you will get a total of +84 magic attacks on weapons and +48 magic attacks on each accessory.

Weapon Synthesis

Weapon synthesis is the most surefire way to increase your magic attack tremendously. It is basically crafting a really really good upgrade for your main weapon.

It will require quite a lot of expensive materials including your main weapon and will certainly cost a lot. Maybe around 20M or so at the time of this writing. But it is certainly worth it.

Add Slots to your Gears and Inlay some Cards

Card inlay screenshot.

Cards play a huge role in increasing your magic attack and damage. Pretty much all monsters drop this but they are super rare. So your best bet to acquire them is by buying them on exchange.

Also, you can’t equip these cards on gears that don’t have slots. The problem is, slotting any worthwhile gears will cost a lot.

If you’re just starting out, I would suggest to only add slots to your weapon and then inlay it with an appropriate racial card depending on the area you are farming.

For example, if you’re farming in Toy Factory. The monsters you’ll encounter there are mostly formless races so you may want to buy 2 Peco Peco Egg card to increase your damage against formless monsters. Racial cards are pretty important for farming, especially if you’re just starting out.

Here is the list of racial cards that you will be needing as your level progress. Note that I’ve only included the racial cards that I think you will need based on the best farming spots in Ragnarok Mobile.

Card NameEffectMonster to TargetMonster Location

There are other cards that will increase your base magic attack. But some of them will cost you an arm and a leg so I will suggest not getting them right away until at least you’ve exhausted the other ways to increase your magic attack.

Here are some of the best cards you can inlay to increase your base magic attack:

Unlock Magic Attack Nodes in the Aesir Monument

Magic attack nodes in the aesir monument.

Every time you donate normal materials to your guild, you will get bronze medals. While donating boss and mini-boss materials will give you Gold medals.

You can then use them to unlock nodes in the Aesir monument. This is where you’ll get most of your magic attack boost.

You mainly want to unlock all the magic attack and refine magic attack nodes. But depending on your build, you may also want to unlock special nodes that unlocks some special skills or add some effects to your skills. These special nodes will require Gold medals along with the bronze medals.

You’ll also want to unlock nodes that add damage to your elements if you are a Warlock or Sorcerer.

You might think that these nodes add very little to your character. But they add quite a lot of boost to your character over time.

Right now, the magic attack I get from my Aesir monument is at +950.20 magic attack. And that’s not including the refine magic attack, element damage and various additional skill effects and damage.

The point is, this is the best and most cost-effective way to increase your magic attack.

TIP

Donate as much as possible to your guild and do this every day for a very long time. Ideally, you want to get upwards of 600, 000 bronze medals and 600+ or more gold medals. After reaching this, you can cut your budget (but don’t stop) and focus more on the ways to increase your magic attack.

If you are saving up your Zeny for better gears, then at least try to get 2 gold medals each day and max out the donation whenever you see cheap materials such as Zargon, Feathers, etc.

For expensive materials, have a budget and at least still donate a couple of them. For example, when I first started out, I donate materials as long as the cost of donating doesn’t exceed 40K. I do this for every single one of the donation requests.

Then as my character gradually became stronger, I was able to farm more. So I increase my budget to up until the cost of the donation is 60k. Eventually, I was able to max the donation for every material requests while still having enough Zeny in my savings.

Right now, I am at around 700k+ contribution points and I am starting to see the point of diminishing returns. So now, I cut off a huge portion of my budget in guild contribution and is now focusing more on getting +12 equips.

Get the Wise Blessing in the Guild Pray

Wise blessing npc in the guildhall.

You can also use your bronze medals to increase your magic attack through the guild prayer. This method is straightforward.

Simply talk to the Valkyrie found at the lower-left portion of your guild hall and select “Pray”. You want to choose the Wise Blessing. The magic attack it will add will increase as the level goes up. At the same time, it will require a lot more bronze medals and zenny.

TIP

Only get the Wise Blessing whenever you have enough Belief Token. Each token will cover 2, 000 of the required zeny to level it up. Having enough token will cover the entire cost of the blessing.

It will take long to max it out but this is the most cost-effective way to increase your magic attack while still saving a couple of Zennies for buying better equips.

Upgrade your Blessings of the Goddess

Guild blessing sample stats you can upgrade.

To upgrade your blessings of the goddess, talk to the Valkyrie NPC located at the lower-left portion of your guildhall.

You will need an attack, defense or element card before you can upgrade any of the available stats for this. And these cards can only be obtained by opening Prayer Card Packs.

It can be bought from the Incredible Vending Machine using honor proofs. The easiest way to obtain honor proofs is by participating in the War of Emperium or War of Crystal.

For magic oriented classes, you’d be interested in upgrading these bonuses first:

  • Magic Penetration – I recommend upgrading this one first. It will increase your damage no matter what element skill you cast and unlike ignore magic defense, it will still work even if your target has 0 m def.

  • Ignore Magic Defense – Like the magic penetration, it will increase the overall damage of your magic oriented skills. But it will stop giving additional damage if your target has 0 m def. This is great for hunting MVP bosses with very high m def but loses its effectiveness as the m def of your target goes down.

  • Damage to Demi-Human – This is good only for demi-human monsters but a great investment if you like to increase your damage on PvP and GvG.

  • Refine Magic Attack – More potent than the magic attack stat but I won’t recommend getting this until at least you get the first 3 I’ve mentioned above level 20

  • Magic Attack – You should invest in this last because magic penetration, ignore magic defense and refine magic attack stat will do more enhancement on your damage than this one.

TIP

Focus on upgrading one bonus from the Attack, Defense and Element categories. This will increase the maximum limit of praying card packs you can purchase each week.

You’ll get 3k+ honor proofs just by participating in War of Crystal so don’t miss out on this if your guild is eligible.

Do Advance Refinement through the Legendary Anvil

Advanced refinement npc found at the top portion of your guildhall.

This method is probably the least obvious way to increase your magic attack damage. Primarily, because there is not much information about it.

But you know what? This is one of the best ways to increase your magic damage. In fact, it can increase your Refine Magic Attack up to +200 points from each weapon and two accessories!

But there are a few requirements for this that I think would be better off explained on a dedicated post.

Anyway, you can do advance refine by talking to Mr. Dragon NPC found at the top of your guildhall. From there, you can choose “Refine Advance”. You can advance refine your weapons and accessories.

You will need enhancing essence tier I, II, or III depending on the current advanced refinement of your weapon or accessory.

And the best part?

Unlike the normal refinement, it will not break your weapons or accessories at all!

And did I mention that this is a character bound Perma stat bonus? You will still get this bonus even if you change your weapon or accessory.

Unlock Permanent Stats in your Adventurer Handbook

Perma stats obtained through your adventurer handbook is shared throughout your account. So even your alt characters can enjoy the bonus unlock and deposit stats you obtained through your main account.

Like the magic attack nodes from the Aesir Monument, the magic increase doesn’t seem impressive at first glance. But once you unlock and deposit quite a lot of them, you’ll soon see the difference they make to your character.

And unlocking the cook and taste mastery alone can give you about 200 magic attack. And if you consider the magic boost percentage you get from equips like the Eye of Dullahan, it can get amplified even more right?

Anyway, there are 3 methods to boost your magic damage in the adventurer handbook.

Cook and Taste Mastery

Cook and taste mastery sample on original will juice.

Whenever you cook or eat foods, your taste and cook mastery increases. If you reach level 10 (max) on each food, it will give you a permanent stat bonus depending on the food.

As of the 5.0 update, all monsters can drop raw ingredients for cooking. And since you are probably grinding for Zennies every single day, you can pretty much unlock every single one of them totally free.

Check out the list of foods you want to unlock in my cook and food mastery post. I made it so you can sort and search them easily.

Unlock and Deposit Headgears

Same as above, you can also gain additional magic attack by crafting and depositing headgears.

And you can see all the headgears you can possibly unlock and deposit related to magic attack through the in-game menu.

Here are the steps:

  1. Under the “More” menu, click on your adventurer handbook.
  2. On the right side, click on the “headgear” icon. It’s the one that looks like a headband.
  3. Tap on “filter”.
  4. Tap on “attack”
  5. Under keywords, click on “magic”

It should list all the magic attacks and deposit headgears like the photo above.

Unlock and Deposit Cards

For this one, you want to only focus on the non-boss or mini-boss deposit cards.

Do not do the re-roll from King Poring for now. Actually, do not do that method until you exhausted every other methods in this guide.

That method is a gamble and not at all reliable. You can spend 50M on the re-roll and still not get any good cards. That same 50M is better spent on something else. If you want to try your luck though, you can see the King Poring at South Prontera

Anyway, you can also see all the cards you can unlock and deposit through the in-game menu.

Here are the steps:

  1. Under the “More” menu, click on your adventurer handbook.
  2. On the right side, click on the “card” icon. It’s the third to the last icon so you may have to scroll down a bit.
  3. Tap on “filter”.
  4. Tap on “attack”
  5. Under keywords, click on “magic”

You may also want to deposit racial cards like the Hydra card. Those cards give additional damage in percent so they may add a little bit more than just the normal magic attack deposits.

Unlock Title Attributes

Unlocking a couple of titles gives permanent stat boost across all characters in your account.

Here are the magic attack-related titles and how to unlock them:

TitleMagic Attack
Bonus
How to Unlock
Adventure Mentor3Help guildmates clear dojo 100 times
DJ2Play 300 Cds
Enchanting2Get 5 “I like you” spell cast on you within1 minute
Falling Star1.5Increase your DEX to 99
Friendly2Have 100 friends
Giant Tower1.5Grow big with 4 other teammates using fooling laser gun
Happiness3Stay married for 30 days
Moonlight’s1.5Increase your INT to 99
Multi-faceted6Unlock 32 emojis
Sacrifice2Lose 1m exp due to death
Sleepless2Play the same CD 50 times
Tranquil2Get the highest healing in MVP competition

These are pretty easy to get so I encourage you to get them as soon as you can.

Increase your Adventurer Class Rank

Similar to title attributes, increasing your adventurer rank will give you a bonus base stat such as INT, STR, DEX, etc. Higher rank will give more bonuses.

At the moment, the highest you can attain is Adventurer Class B which gives a bonus of +9 to all stats.

Get a pet that boosts magic attack or element damage

There are also pets that passively increase boost your magic damage as long as it is combat-active. As of right now, there are only two you’d be interested in.

  • Sohee Pet – This pet has a skill “M. Atk Up”. If this skill is at level 10, it can increase your magic attack by 40. You can use the talent fruit item to reset your pet’s skill.

Hopefully you can acquire it within just a few tries. In my experience, it may take about 8-20+ tries to get whatever level 10 skills you want to acquire.

  • Harpy Pet – This pet is even better. In addition to M. Att Up (+40 magic attack), it also has a Knife Wing passive skill that increases Wind Damage by 3% if both are at level 10.

This pet can be obtained by fusing Spore, Baby Desert Wolf and Mandragora. You will need each of them at level 10 intimacy.

Consume Magic Attack Foods and Element Alloys

Unlike the other methods, the effects of consuming magic attack foods and alloys are only temporary. Nevertheless, they still boost your attack and they actually give a very high bonus.

Here are some of the best consumables can purchase in-game:

  • Int Meal B – This increases your INT stat by 10 and magic damage by 20% for 30 minutes. This will be your go-to food if your damage just isn’t quite enough to 1-shot a monster.

You can get 1 for free every day from the food merchant if you are a premium user. Alternatively, you can but it for 25K each.

You can also obtain this randomly from pet labor.  Special events also give a food voucher as a reward sometimes. You can exchange each voucher for 10 pcs of these if you happen to acquire it.

You can also get an INT Meal A for only 5k each but at half the effect the B meal gives.

Note that same INT meals (A or B) stacks but using both A and B won’t stack.

  • Original Will Juice – This is a 5-star dish that increases magic attack by 40 and magic penetration by 2.5%. You can stack this 6 times giving you a staggering +240 magic attack and 15% magic penetration.

  • Fire/Ice/Wind/Water Controlling Alloy – These items increase your magic damage or physical damage by 15% for 6 minutes based on the element you chose to use.

Note that these do not stack. so if you chose to use the Fire Controlling Alloy, it will be overwritten if you use a different alloy before the time is up.

Given that it only lasts for 6 minutes, this is probably best to only use this during Boss Hunt, PvP, WoE or WoC.

Unlock/Deposit Gacha Costumes and Equips

Unlock gacha costumes.

Gacha equips can only be acquired by spending Big Cat Coins which is pretty much real-world money.

Most of the limited edition costumes give a whopping 1% additional attack and magic attack unlock the bonus. There are new costumes you can obtain every month and every unlocks gives additional 1%.

Yes, they are a little OP but this is where the developers earn money so they can continue to develop and maintain the game.

Without it, they’ll probably have to close the servers. Or maybe go to a subscription-type model where you need to pay to play the game. Whether that would be better or not is a subject of debate.

The good news is, your character can certainly reach OP level at some point even without these Gacha equips.

Conclusion

Rather than focusing on just good equips, we should try to diversify our methods in increasing the magic attack of our character.

If unlocking a certain headgear will cost you more than depositing a card, then, by all means, unlock the card first. My suggestion is to do exhaust everything in this guide until you reach the point of diminishing returns. Do whatever is cheaper at the moment and it will strengthen your character faster.

Hope this guide helps. If you like it, consider sharing it with your friends.
